The first two games require more shooting and faster reflexes, with less forgiving guards and a fair amount of platforming. I've just never pushed the issue much or done a deep dive to solve it because I'm torn on if I like controller or mouse and keyboard better, honestly, even after half a dozen replays on multiple systems. In fact, the PT solution above technically works half-way on SC1, just with issues (no back to wall, etc). 'fuck it, I'll just use the mouse and keyboard' trouble) is SC1, but I have seen solutions out there.
